And what makes me sad is this:

If Karkat was one of the humans and not an ex-troll, it would be very distressing for everyone, especially the ex-trolls. Terezi, Aradia, and Kanaya would have to regroup and plan in secret, and while they’re all good at plotting they’re not really good at being team players. They’d splinter off into a creepy little secretive gang and everyone including human Karkat would be massively worried about them.

Gamzee meanwhile would be really distraught that Karkat didn’t remember their moirallegiance or have any idea how to conduct one, and go off the rails a bit. He and Terezi would eventually form a pale marriage of necessity to take care of each other in the wake of Karkat’s completely heartbreaking alien cluelessness. Sollux would flip his shit on a regular basis, both on how any conversation his troll self has with Karkat ends up with Karkat fighting back tears, and how his human self can’t remember why he keeps attacking his best friend like this. 

Karkat and John wouldn’t have a rocky relationship at all: upon finding out that Karkat had no idea who he was or what trolls were, John would drop the hate-flirting and they’d fall into being very friendly interspecies buddycop adventurebros. It is entirely likely that they would still make out a lot. Karkat would be especially invested in maintaining a friendship with John because his relationships with Terezi, Sollux, and Gamzee — his other best friends — would be in complete shambles. 

Basically it would be just as sad a situation as what’s going on in Connect already, just in a new sad way.

So...
Is it selfish of me if I believe this is a better alternative? I really don't think Karkat is very happy with his old friends. He sure love them very much and they love him too, but at the same time they kind of don't know how to deal with each other. Beside, this alternative may more or less defuse John, giving him a functional moirail in Karkat and maybe John would be in better touch of his troll nature and blood rage?

Then again, spending time close to a highblood troll isn't always a healthy way of life.

Then again, maybe human Karkat can defuse troll John like how human John defused Vriska. She was so sweet when with John. Maybe it can work this way too? But if the team cannot work together, can they win the game? Maybe they can find a way to get the team back together, I'm sure that human Karkat can do the leadership thing once he understands what's going on.
