Over-enthusiastic bird
Jan. 11th, 2012 10:26 amJules is a living alarm clock. Over the Holidays he let me sleep past over 9:30AM, but recently school's starting again and dad said that I should be adjusting my biological clock, to which my bird agreed. Today he woke me up at 8:30AM. Not only he knows that he should wake me sooner and when is sooner, he also knows progressive bio-clock adjustment. I know that this isn't his bio-clock doing Daylight Saving Mode because after waking me up he still naps at the usual times. He's napping on my shoulder right now. This bird should be a biology or psychology teacher/therapist.
Then again, I'm not sure if it's an eye-neck coordination thing or an intellect thing, but this other day, when my bird has a loose feather on his neck and I show it to him via a mirror, he'd try to remove it by rubbing his lower beak on me. But the feather's on his neck, not on his beak, so it doesn't come off. He sees in the mirror that it's still there, so he tries again, again only rubbing the chin on me. I get that he's trying to rub that side of his neck, and indeed the side is right, but the neck wasn't touching my body at all when he rubs like that. I suspect that his psychic body is shaped differently from his physical body and the psychic body is much bigger, thus getting a location paradox. Or he didn't know how non-puffy his feathered neck is once he is stretching it. Either way, that looked stupid.

Bird is the actual master?
Dec. 10th, 2011 07:45 pmMy bird has conditioned me to almost be able to read his thoughts. He'll grip my fingers in a certain way and I'll know to take him to the toilet to poop. He'll chirp and I'll know that he's thirsty. He'll stand next to a bottled food and look at me and I'll know that he wants to eat it.
Sometimes i wonder who's the smarter of the two.
But then again, he's road-dumb and cannot find his ways at all.
Then again, me too. Eh.

Jules, the mirror test passed!
Dec. 9th, 2011 03:10 pmToday I witnessed Jules passing the mirror test. We have suspected that he'd pass for sometimes, but I have never seen him pass. Usually before a mirror he does nothing but stare. Today he had a down feather on his beak and he didn't seem to know. Instead of forcibly remove it for him as usual, I showed him the mirror. He saw himself in it and immediately lowered his head to wipe the feather off his beak on my hand.
He also understands human languages and is at least bilingual in them.
Next I'm going to try test if he has psychic powers. If he doesn't he must still have sound related or time related superpower. Or some kind of power similar to a Laplace's demon.

Parrot as character? Seriously?
Apr. 15th, 2011 11:15 pmI just learned that the 軒轅劍 series has a parrot as character. Not a humanoid parrot, but a bird-shaped parrot. And a country of parrots. Intelligent, proud parrots. Like, instead of elves they have parrots. The recurring parrot character, 疾鹏, is a general that controls a bronze mecha.
Where can I find that game? It's made in Taiwan apparently.
Edit: There's another named parrot character named 多鵬. Cute sunny head~

I wonder...
Mar. 6th, 2011 10:34 pm...what is it like, to do swan hunting with a gyrfalcon? When googled, most site just give the same lines from wikipedia. Is there an actual longer description that is also true?
P.S.: The gyrfalcon in this context is a bird of prey. Not modern weaponry or something. And by swan hunting I mean the hunting of actual swan, as in the aquatic bird, by people who lived in the North-East of Asia, around the region of Eastern Mongolia and Eastern Russia.

Oct. 4th, 2010 08:07 pmI doodled my bird in class and liked it. I then scanned and coloured it in Photoshop. It was so cute that I made some icons with it.
