And Gold, why were you thinking of your dad when looking at Red in the discarded extra? Isn't daddy issues supposed to be Silver's thing? And Ruby's? And N? And... Is there a male trainer protagonist who doesn't have daddy issues in Pokemon? Any trainer?

Gold-->Red is my new shipping pain. This author fixed the Misty/Red problem, but now Gold's losing. And in the next chapter Misty is probably going to lose her chance at the League. She's got Red in this universe, and she's a great character, but now she's going to lose her dream as a trainer to Red in this League? Well, to be fair she won against Red in the Cinnabar League a few years ago, but still. Lorelei. Yeah, I guess it's pretty fairly balanced for Misty in this universe. But Goldddddddddd. Someone get him a newboyfriend big brother figure. Is there any trainer around his age? I'm not sure if Silver's even in this universe, and Silver is probably younger than him. Would post-BW/B2W2 N do the job? N/Gold anyone?
Somebody write me a fic with happy Gold please. Maybe one where he gets Red's approval.
And funny how Gold seems to be the least straight guy in pixiv fanon. He thinks he's straight, but the things he do are like schoolgirl with a crush. Remember the doujinshi from another artist about the PokeSpe characters' valentine's day? It was supposed to be Gold/Crys, but the way Gold casually took Silver out for diner on the Valentine's Day... It was so casual, I didn't even catch it the first time. Then someone pointed out "Why is Gold treated Silver to lunch?" at which I still didn't catch. Then someone pointed out "Why is Gold taking Silver out to diner ON VALENTINE'S DAY?" and then it clicked. Gold took Silver out to diner on a Valentine's Day and complained receiving no chocolate. Alright, no homo? And then Silver just friendzoned him by showing off the chocolate he got from Blue. And the Christmas doujinshi where Gold and Crys both planted a kiss on Silver's face. Not to mention all the Gold-->Red doujinshi. Alright, if it's tagged Gold/Red or Gold/Silver it's obvious that Gold won't be straight in it, but when many supposed Gold/Crys or gen have casual slash subtext it's just...
Why am I talking about non-straightness? Because unless it's the LGBTQ genre and focuses on it, the less straight a character or the relationship is, the greater the chance it will be unrequited love, regardless if it's romance love or bromance love. And seeing that Kings Red already has Misty, Gold is doomed to have his feelings unrequited if it was romantic. If it's non-sexual love, it's still doomed because Red already have a rival in Green and they are pretty committed and exclusive. Companionship then? Red's got six Pokemon as his companions already, plus Misty. More and it'll get complicated.
So far it seems that the best turnout for Kings Gold would be if that universe's Silver pops out and they travel together with besting their brother/father figure as goal.
