Many things (mostly about the quail eggs)
Jan. 10th, 2012 11:24 pmFirst of all, IT Bound was the greatest Homestuck fan work ever.
Second, why were there fertilised quail eggs in the quail eggs I bought from the supermarket? I was eating them and suddenly noticed that one of them had a small seahorse like dark shadow in it. But it was already hard-boiled so to not waste it I had to eat it. After humming a broken om mani padme hum. And I was like put it in my mouth but unable to chew it at the thought that a fetus was in there. In the end I hypnotized myself enough to eat it and thought that that one must be an exception and the next ones won't be fertilised and guess what? The next one had a round shadow in it! So it was a zygote, fertilised and was dividing, just not getting a shape yet. Slightly better, but still disturbing. Then the ones that followed were normal, unfertilised eggs, thankfully, just like the previous ones.
I don't get how two living eggs could be in there. Aren't the female quails for this supposed to be virgin? And how can you check a quail egg if it has a fetus in it or not? I mean, a chicken egg is easy, you just hold it up to the sun and you'll see if there's a shadow. But quail eggs are opaque and spotted. I don't feel like eating quail fetuses anymore and if I meet more of them I want to hatch them and play with the baby quails. But first I must learn how to tell. And can refrigerated quail eggs still give baby quails?
Third... I forgot.
