Finally understood why Red is "Queen" beside the Red Queen reference (both Alice and the biology/evolution concept)... and beside the BDSM reference (dominatrix = queen).

Explanation:
King: "You know what that means? It means I'm the strongest person in the whole world!" / strong and powerful are the same in Japanese / strong(est)-person = "king-person" --> the chess king, important but not that powerful

Queen: The most powerful piece in chess + can checkmate the king


I wonder who the other protagonists are. I guess Gold/Kris/Lyra/Hibiki are Towers, May/Brendan are Bishops, Lucas/Dawn/Barry are Knights, Hibert/Hilda/Cheren/Bianca/N are Pawns (Hilbert/Hilda/N becomes Queens at the end).

We have ran out of chess pieces. Maybe the future ones will be Chinese chess (not go, the chess game with a river in the middle) and Japanese chess pieces?
