To me, Silver is more "Gender? Why are you talking to me about this, I need to go [train my pokémon|save the world|brood|be mean to someone because I haven't figured out how to be nice yet]" which I guess could fall under genderqueer sometimes. :) Keep in mind I haven't read the manga so I am going based on game and fanon; maybe I would have a similar opinion if I read the manga. While N is like "This gender thing is kind of bogus, but regardless I got a raw deal and would like a new one now."
As far as terminology goes: In that context I would have just said "Green's a boy, Blue's a girl, so why can't Red be another gender?" "third gender" just makes me think of 1970s anthropologists. Admittedly that might be specific to having actually read 1970s anthropologists talking about gender. :/
It's not like we need to have the same views! I am excited to hear people who think different things than me. I am kinda picky about terminology though, sometimes to a fault.
