I have never heard of this comic! Should I read the earlier chapters? Where are they? :)

It's a fan comic by 清順（トンボ） on pixiv. If you want the quick links to each chapter, pilot is here, one is here and two is here.

It's based mostly on the gameverse but with some anime and Electric Tales influences. There's also an extra chapter with Hibiki, but I can't find it now (I don't have a membership at pixiv, so I have to use refresh to find stuff).

Even if you can't read Japanese you should try reading this because it's so awesome! It's like a hot soup made of childhood.

This is a really impressive fancomic, but I essentially read no Japanese and so it's mostly just pretty. However, I do not mind pretty. :) Thanks!

Don't worry, most dialogues are about Pokemon battle strategies, which you can understand just by looking. Notable aversions are after Red and Green's battle in the flashback, Red reprimands Green for not telling his Eevee good job, but Green answers that he didn't have to because their feelings are the same/as one. And in the present time there was one scene where Red asks Misty why isn't she going to her preliminary, she answers that since she was in the top 3 in the Cinnabar Conference (and she defeated Red there, so he didn't get that), she gained the right to skip to the next step in this Tournament Conference. Oh, and Misty's "If you [Red] lose, then don't come see me again, for you are a trainer with my [with noble I] approval." And when Misty is calling her sister it is to make her sign the "Demand for Gym Equipments Upgrades" and her sister teases her about being with Red all the time. And Misty knew Volkner from the Cinnabar Conference (he was the winner). He calls Misty "senpei" despite being younger than her.

Strategy-wise, Akira (remember him from the anime?)'s sandslash is not afraid of water thanks to his training, implying that pokemon's weaknesses are mostly psychological. Red's pikachu used Iron Tail as a defensive move (not possible in the games, but very plausible in realistic settings) when sandslash used dig+slash.
