Romantically Apocalyptic

If Captain is in fact Loki, it would make a lot of sense. Not.

Such a mind screw.

And, calling the red... being there "Cancer" makes me think of Karkat. Need RAxHS crossover.

RA theory below:

The entire comic is inside a simulated reality. It is the glitching memory of a supercomputer who is related to ANNET but with a very different AI. Where ANNET is meant to act, this AI is meant to record and play. The ominous mug's content killed this computer, and in its dying moment it starts to insert this mug in everywhere that seems suspicious or important. The Captain is the most suspicious, so he/she carries the mug. It is possible that the real life captain was the one who killed the computer by spilling its content over the computer. As we are watching the final functioning of a dying computer, the comic grows more confusing as more of the computer is broken and the memory, less coherent.

The Cancer is manifestation of the concept of the computer's death in its memories. The plant-thing mutation is either hope, spilled cooling material, or the memory of a pot of plant placed in the same room as the computer. There is a mecha somewhere, that could be a toy placed on a nearby human's working place, atop that person's computer, on top of this computer, or on a desk nearby where the computer can see. The humans are... well, humans, working in where the computer works. All the ice lately is because of the workers pouring electronics-safe cooling/insulating material over it to stop it from frying.

The blackhole is its imminent death. It'll probably be avoided. I hope.

Now let's see in a few months or so if my theory will be shot down. Hopefully yes?
